Uncommon Law ~ Lessons they don’t teach in law school.
Imagine that My Cousin Vinny became a NY State Supreme Court Justice after thirty-three years in private law practice where he represented killers, mobsters, robbers, rogue cops, rabbis, scammers, boxers, musicians, jockeys, trainers, a war hero, a sculptor, and a film director among many other characters. Got it? Good. This is the podcast Vinny would have created. This podcast is a collection of short stories about cases, clients, experiences and lessons that Judge Rudy Greco learned in street knowledge college.

About
Judge Rudy Greco
I grew up in Brooklyn and Queens on streets teeming with kids, conflicts and creativity. My parents were a longshoreman and a housewife who gave me good values. I worked over twenty different jobs starting as a paperboy including work as a steamfitter, bartender, band manager, and middle school teacher in the Fort Apache section of the South Bronx when it was violent and burning.
I played baseball, basketball, and coached sandlot tackle football for eight years. I competed in the NY Golden Gloves and Marathon. I’m an avid walker and bicycle rider. I won a NYS Regents College Scholarship and wrote lyrics for two years in the prestigious BMI Musical Theater Workshop. A local community activist and political leader, I authored a children’s history book.
I spent thirty-three years in private practice as a criminal defense, civil and administrative trial lawyer appearing successfully in the NYS Court of Appeals and the US Supreme Court. Most importantly I paid the rent every month. I was an elected NYC Civil Court Judge and NYS Supreme Court Justice presiding over countless trials for thirteen years until my retirement.
This podcast is an expression of gratitude for a richly rewarding fifty year career where I became a millionaire in terms of what I saw, lived and learned. I hope this podcast will entertain and inform all listeners, lawyers and others interested in seeing the law from the inside out. Enjoy!
